31st January, Dombivli
Vivekanand Seva Mandal, Dombivli and Yogavidya Dham, Dombivli jointly organized a “YOG PRASHIKSHAN VARGA”. It was held between 3rd January, 2015 and 31st January 2015, at the terrace of Dyanmandir. The sessions were kept in the early morning, at 6 am. The basic aim was to create awareness of YOG and ASANA in the youth.
The sessions began with basic exercises. Those included stretching, jogging etc. Then we started with ‘Suryanamaskaras’. First week we all worked on our ‘Suryanamaskaras’ to achieve higher degree of perfection. ‘Suryanamaskaras’ is all in one type of exercise. So they were quiet refreshing too. In this initial period, tutor Mr. Prakash Oke focused on increasing our stamina. After a few initial days, we started with some Asanas like Padmasana, Bhujangasana. Sir also told the scientific importance of those Asanas. Also various breathing exercises were performed in the varga by us. Pranayam. Anulom Vilom, Slow breathing, fast breathing were few of them. These exercises help us to achieve higher levels of concentration.
All in all, this sessions were quiet helpful for all the attendees. We are thankful to Mr. Prakash Oke and his colleagues at Yoga Vidya Dham for their valuable guidance. Without them the camp wouldn’t have been possible.
Our volunteers fared well in the examination conducted after the camp. In fact Shivam Momaya stood first among 500+ students by scoring 91 / 100 in the Yog asana examination, while Varad Mondkar (87 / 100) and Prathamesh Palav (84 / 100) were few other achiever-volunteers.
